I'll be fiiiine~ I'm not like you humans, y'know— my body's different. When the waters get cold back home, we don't need extra clothes or blankets or anything, and there's definitely no fire, heh, you just... I dunno... adjust! On land? Miserable. S'not like that on the surface.
[ Physiologically speaking, Alberto's body is probably pretty fascinating. What happens to his organs when he makes the Change? How do his teeth flatten out? Does his vision change with the change in his pupils? How does he gain an extra finger when the webs between them disappear? Where does his tail go? ...Where does his tail go...? But the point at hand is that, from the sounds of it, he's able to regulate his body temperature to the waters around him, like many fish are, even if apparently he can't do that on land.
A thought occurs to him, though, and he gives Chara a playful nudge with his elbow as they walk side-by-side, shooting them a sly smile. ]
Hey, come to think of it— You've only ever seen me on land, huh? You get to see me make the Change, heh!
[ Lucky you, Chara... You get to watch Alberto turn blue and scaly and slimy. Great. ]
[Yeah Chara isn't one hundred percent sure about this whole thing, but hey if Alberto wants to risk it? It's not their life on the line here after all. As to having seen Alberto change, they have not!]
I guess I do, should be interesting to see.
[Since most monsters that Chara knows don't actually change forms, and Mettaton doesn't count.
[ Another teasing grin. He walks with a little more bravado now, chin held a bit higher. ]
Most land monsters think sea monsters are pretty scary-looking~ I guess that's why they hunt us back home. I dunno.
[ He gives a light shrug. He's never really understood why humans hunt sea monsters. Sea monsters eat, like, mussels and roe and seaweed. What threat do they pose to humans, seriously? ]
Hah! Yeah— Asriel's not scary-looking at all. I mean, I guess if humans think monsters'll eat them or something, but... heh, I doubt humans would even taste good.
[ That's... a pretty wry joke, Alberto. ]
You'll see what I look like when we get to the lake— I mean, I kinda get it, maybe it's the teeth, I dunno... Are there actually scary monsters in the Underground? What — or, uh, who? — is "Undyne?"
They thought that Monsters would steal their SOULs, so there is that I guess.
[The eating comment it totally ignored, although Chara will mentally wonder if Alberto has considered eating a human before.]
Undyne is the leader of the knights that work for Dad, the King of all Monsters, she's kind of scary. [If you don't know her.] She's a fish monster and does crazy stuff with boulders.
She's a fish monster? So— then there are sea monsters in your world! Sort of.
[ He looks at them with a surprised, open expression he seldom wears. He's so curious about scary some fish monster lady now. He can't help already envisioning her looking like Luca's mom, though... ]
[ He shifts his bag slightly, rolling up the left sleeve of his pullover and pulls it as high up his arm as he can, almost to his shoulder, as he talks and walks, attention diverted with a quiet excitement. ]
Throwing spears isn't that scary. I've had harpoons thrown at me tons of times! Look~
[ Once he's done fussing with his sleeve to expose his bicep, he sticks his arm out toward Chara to give them a closer look — just to show off a thin, pale scar. He almost seems strangely... proud? ]
[ Alberto watches Chara miming the move with a raised eyebrow, and responds musingly, but does stop in his tracks after they're done mimicking the move. ]
Okay, magic spears do sound scarier, but... Do that suplex again...? Show me?
[ Alberto knows more or less what the word wrestling means, but he doesn't know about any particular moves or fandom surrounding it... Hard to tell
And yes, he, uh, may have just unwittingly invited Chara to pretend to beat up on him. ]
[Chara is very sure they couldn't actually do the move on Alberto so! They're going to mime the move again, stopping as well so that Alberto can get the jist of what they're doing.]
Only imagine it's like, with a boulder. And the boulder breaks at the end of it.
[ Alberto watches more carefully this time, eyes widening when he tries to envision it with a person, but... when Chara mentions again that she does it with boulders, that draws Alberto's eyes to Chara's, brow tugging a little in thought and confusion. ]
[ And Alberto's not gonna ask questions and accept that statement at surface level, just as intended. ]
Man... I knew you were tough, but I dunno, not that tough — no offense. It's a compliment, eheh... I just, uh—
[ He rubs the back of his neck with his hand uncomfortably as he picks up the pace again, shifting it to awkwardly adjust the strap on his bag, as if that was all he was doing, and not self-conscious at all. ]
...I dunno how to fight. I mean— I can, but...
[ He doesn't finish that sentence, gaze askance as they press on.
"I can, but..." probably meaning he's fought before, but... he's lost. Which is halfway true. ]

... We don't talk about the Undying.]

[Their tone is dead serious, it's not like Alberto can suplex boulders after all.]
Humans are kind of stupid that way, they thought monsters back home were dangerous too when well... You've met Asriel.
[Just a bit bitter there, as they walk. They will never understand the human/monster war, never.]

What's she do with boulders? Why's she scary?

[Waterfall is a unique little place, that Chara didn't care much for.]
She suplexes them, and she throws spears at you.

[Chara mimes what a suplex looks like, as best as they can considering they aren't trying to do it to someone.]
It's scary when they're magic spears.
[They turn to look at the scar and are thoroughly... Unimpressed. They have more scars than that.]

Boulders...? Why?
no subject
[Because that is one thing to be fearful of, being suplexed by a fish woman in full armour.]

[ Too casual...? At least his voice rings as impressed, if not mildly concerned. ]

[Just going to leave out that technically it was Frisk and not them that was going to be killed, even after Chara had their SOUL.]

Yeah? At least I can say I've won my fights.
[Even if RESETting made them all moot.]
