She's a big lizard monster thing, okay? With pretty eyes. That's how you'll know it's Sofia and not some other campinosathis.

[ Compsognathus. She's a dinosaur. Alberto let a small dinosaur loose on the town by accident. ]

It's not! She's lost and alone and probably hungry! I know she's probably hungry because she was trying to eat Enrico!

Who's Enrico? Hopefully an easier to care for pet than the freaking lizard monster.

He's the hamster! He has wings like Carlo, so I thought they'd be friends — buuut they're not friends yet...

[ Carlo also wants to eat Enrico. Alberto's in deep. ]

Of course they're not. Cats eat things like hamsters.

Wha—?! No way! Carlo wouldn't eat Enrico! They're supposed to be friends! They have matching wings!

[ What does that have to do with anything... though that was pretty much the whole reason he got the hamster in the first place. He got the hamster before he got the dinosaur... ]

Cats eat rodents, which is what a hamster is. Wings or not.

[Chara is getting the feeling that Alberto shouldn't have any pets.]

What? Cats eat fish. Massimo always gave Machiavelli fish. And I give Carlo fish.

[ But... he's suddenly doubting himself... Chara sounds like they know what they're talking about, too. ]

...Should I have been giving Carlo hamsters all this time...?

Cats eat more than just fish, or rodents.

[Seriously, it's a good thing familiars are kind of autonomous or they'd be feeling sorry for Carlo.]

Cats hunt for their food, be it fish or rodents or even bugs. You don't need to give him anything, your familiar should be pretty good at finding food for itself after all.

[Like Chara does anything for their goat.]

Well, yeah, but when I'm cooking fish for me, I give him some. As a treat, y'know. Carlo does his own thing half the time. I mean, I don't want to feed him hamsters as a treat... Enrico's cute. Fish are just fish.

You don't have to feed him hamsters. I'm just saying that because of how cats are that's probably why Carlo tried to eat Enrico.

[ Welp. That checks out. He lets out a dramatic sigh, and... not quite cusses, but uh, it sort of seems like it's meant to be. ]

Ahhh, sharks. Poor Enrico...

[ That is to say: "What have I done, I've doomed this hamster to a life of danger and fear." Should have listened to 'Bruno' saying this was a bad idea in the back of his mind at the pet fair... ]

[Yeah with how Alberto says "sharks" it makes Chara wonder if the animal is some kind of sea monster curse word or something. It's getting filed away as that at least.]

Did you really consider your situation before you got the pets?

I didn't want Carlo to be alone. And then the people at the pet fair said because of the disasters, these pets were all alone, too!

[ That was the extent of his consideration, though, really... The road to chaos is paved with good intentions, in Alberto's home. ]

Yeah, but they'd be better off alone than with someone who can't properly care for them. S'why I haven't taken any of them.

I can properly care for them!! When Sofia comes back, I'll be a great conipitharius dad!

Can you? She's run off, that's telling me you can't take care of them.

That was just an accident! I'm gonna find her! Then things will be fantastic!

How does an animal run away by accident? They usually do that when they don't want to be somewhere.

No, no, no. It's not like that. I didn't think she wanted to be trapped inside all the time, so I wanted to take her outside. And she didn't seem to like being on her leash, either. Which makes sense, right?! Who would?! I mean, Machiavelli just follows Massimo around, so I thought Sofia would follow me around, too. But instead she just ran away and wouldn't come back! Then I lost sight of her... And I don't think she knows where to go to come back now...

It probably took a long time for Massimo to get Machiavelli to follow him around like that, and training too. So really maybe you should write this off as a loss and learn from it.
